KoreOne Staffing MISSION CRITICAL IT RESOURCES

Computer Operator Jobs

Computer Operators are responsible for supervising electronic computer and peripheral electronic data processing equipment to process business, scientific, engineering and other data according to operating instructions. They might work with mainframes, minicomputers, or network of personal computers. Computer Operators must anticipate problems and take averting action to resolve the problem that occurs during operation.

Their major task is to enter certain commands, using a computer terminal, and controls the computer and its peripheral devices to blend and operate the equipments. They continuously monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance. Computer operators are needed to inform supervisor or computer maintenance technicians of equipment malfunctions and take responsive action to program error messages by finding and correcting the problem or by terminating the program. The operators should go through the job set-up instructions to determine the type of equipment to be used, order of use, material such as disks and paper to be loaded, and control settings. Operators also maintain logbooks or operating records, listing each job that is run and events, such as machine malfunctions, that occur during their shift. They send data to specified users after retrieving and sorting the program output as needed. To inspect loading of peripheral equipment by its operators, they should load peripheral equipment with selected materials for operating runs. Operators should telephone calls to help computer users solve their problem.

The operators must be able to be modified and willing to learn due to the rapidly changing computer technology. Operators working in automated data centers should possess analytical and technical expertise to deal with unique or high-level problems that a computer is not programmed to handle. The computer operators should have a good communication skill and work effectively with programmers, users, and other operators. Computer operators must possess the ability to work independently because they might have little or no direct supervision. The computer operators would avail best opportunity if they have a formal education, become familiar with a variety of operating systems and keep themselves up to date with the latest technology.

Although many computer operations centers seek for a bachelor’s degree for a supervisory job, a few computer operators advance to these jobs due to adequate experience. Through on-the-job experience and additional formal education, some computer operators advance to jobs in areas such as network operations or support. Operators gaining experience in programming, move forward to jobs such as programmers or analysts. Other occupations in which workers operate electronic office equipment include data entry and information processing workers, as well as secretaries and administrative assistants.

KoreOne provides highly skilled and experienced computer operators to its clients. We provide on-the-job training to our operators in order to ensure that they get acquainted with the equipment and routines. KoreOne has placed computer operators in various industries like government, health care, manufacturing, data processing services, finance, insurance and many other information industries.
